Six artists from the 80s and 90s — Jean-Luc Lagarce, Bernard-Marie Koltès, Hervé Guibert, Serge Daney, Cyril Collard and Jacques Demy — share two things in common: the Mitterand years and AIDS.
They departed too soon to transmit much of anything to the next generation. Their lives and work bear the hallmarks of the game of love and death, of sensuality and illness. That said, they did leave their imprint on some, beginning with Christophe Honoré: “those I chose as models for my life, my loves, my ideas stand on the side of death. Sida consumed my idols.» His show tells a story of an absence, yet bears the hope of transmission. It is a theater of creativity and history, of passion and illness.
