Promise me is choreography suffused with the spirit of insurrection – a desire for freedom that manifests itself in the unbound bodies on stage. An urge to rebel that triggers an inversion of the relationship between the young and the old. In Promise me, the young stand up to the old. Power dynamics fade away and are replaced with a joyful collective energy. Conceived by the Belgian company kabinet k, this daring piece is driven forward by the live music of Thomas Devos.
Kabinet k is a Belgian company based in Ghent. Directed by two choreographers, Joke Laureyns and Kwint Manshoven, they create pieces that bring children and professional dancers together on stage.
