Un jeune curé est nommé à Ambricourt, un petit village du Nord de la France. Sa santé est fragile, il se nourrit mal. Il peine à susciter la confiance de ses paroissiens mais persiste, au prix d’une grande souffrance, à poursuivre le chemin, semé d’embûches, de sa vocation.
