Dans un solo où le corps occupe une place centrale, Latifa Laâbissi traverse 3 performances d’Esther Ferrer, Intime et personnel (1977), Memoria (1984) et Las Cosas (1990).

Le même corps, jamais pareil : c’est ce paradoxe que Latifa Laâbissi explore en rejouant certaines œuvres d’Esther Ferrer, figure incontournable de la performance depuis les années 60. La chorégraphe choisit de reproduire à l’identique les performances de la plasticienne fondées sur la rigueur et la simplicité. Mais ici, « à l’identique » signifie forcément « autrement » : chaque reprise, dans un autre corps, dans un autre temps, devient transformation. Latifa Laâbissi devient un corps parmi d’autres – éprouvant des durées, cataloguant des objets, arpentant des espaces. Il ne s’agit pas d’interpréter ni de rendre hommage, mais de se laisser traverser par les gestes et les protocoles d’Esther Ferrer.

In this solo at the frontiers of dance and visual arts Latifa Laâbissi journeys through the performances of Esther Ferrer. 

Always the same body, yet never two times alike: this is the paradox that Latifa Laâbissi explores by re-enacting a selection of works by Esther Ferrer, a key figure in performance since the 1960s. Laâbissi has chosen to create identical replicas of this artist’s performances, which are based on rigour and simplicity. But here ‘identical’ can only mean ‘different’: each repetition, in another body, in another time, becomes a transformation. Neither an act of interpretation nor of paying homage, Le même corps, jamais pareil asks us to let ourselves be swept up by Esther Ferrer’s movements and patterns. A pioneer of performance art in Spain, Esther Ferrer has developed a radical body of work combining action art, minimalism, and conceptual thinking. A member of the historic ZAJ group in Franco’s Spain, her work questions freedom and the human condition with humour, lucidity, and an economy of means. 

Latifa Laâbissi is a dancer, choreographer, performer, and TNB associate artist who conjures up landscapes, stories, figures and voices. Each of her creations questions the notion of art and the politics of form.
