Featuring 10 young performers and 2 musicians, this vibrant creation by choreographer Qudus Onikeku is conceived as a triptych of birth, death and rebirth.
In urban outfits or traditional Nigerian costumes, wearing black glasses or masks that cover their faces, a fresh generation of dancers moves to a live score crossing 70s Afrobeat with dance hall, hip hop and electro. Based on the Yoruba philosophy, the culture from which Qudus Onikeku comes, the show is built as an original triptych, putting at its center the concept of reincarnation (birth, death, rebirth) and a non-linear perception of time and space. The choreographer immerses us in a magical and mystical experience.
Qudus Onikeku is an acrobat, dancer and leading choreographer whose first pieces earned invitations to the Venice Biennale and Avignon Festival. In 2014, he opened the QDance Center in Nigeria, a training and resource centre for discovering young talent.
