In partnership with CCN de Rennes et de Bretagne
The work of the artist and sculptor Gabríela Friðriksdóttir embodies something strange and eerie, something that wells up from our youngest age, from the irrational. A troubling mix of humanity and animality unfolds in her sculptures that come to life in mud, hay, plaster, and pieces of wood.
The visually stunning installation presented in the Festival TNB is composed of movies devised in close collaboration by Gabriela Friðriksdóttir and Pierre-Alain Giraud. A sand dune is spread on the stage. Above the dune, movies are projected throughout the space. Created between 2011 and 2019, these movies bring to mind metamorphosis and a new relation to the earth and nature, putting forward the elements and the cycles of life.
Gabríela Friðriksdóttir is an Icelandic artist and sculptor. Her work is exhibited in leading museums around the world. She is a close collaborator of Björk, designing her album covers and creating her video clips. She brings to Brittany a tinge of the Nordic spirit.
