Three performers use water, puppets, rabbits, frogs, old men, a stag’s head, and diverse bath accessories to tell two stories often encountered in classical painting—the story of Acteon from Ovid’s Metamorphoses, and the story of Suzanne from the Old Testament book of Daniel. Combining dance, song, and storytelling, The Bath proposes a representation of the body in the history of art for children (and their parents). The choreographer Gaëlle Bourges draws inspiration from two XVIth century paintings: The Bath of Diana by François Clouet, and Susanna and the Elders by Tintoretto.
