Dans le décor feutré d’un appartement, leurs pas étouffés par la moquette, 5 personnages évoluent en silence, laissant au public la libre interprétation du drame qui se joue sous ses yeux. Indices et moments clés, images projetées sur un écran, le puzzle s’assemble peu à peu. Conçue comme un plan séquence, la pièce agrège des thèmes chers à Antonioni : la disparition, la déliquescence des sentiments, l’instabilité de la perception. Les interprètes nourrissent leur jeu de monologues intérieurs et fragments écrits par le dramaturge Guillaume Poix. En cherchant ce qui s’exprime hors du langage, Le Silence expose leurs pensées et sentiments avec une force inouïe.

Drawing inspiration from the work of filmmaker Michelangelo Antonioni, Le Silence draws stories on stage without a single word being spoken. A striking work that transforms theatre through silence.

In the hushed setting of an apartment, their footsteps muffled by carpet, five characters move in silence, leaving the audience to interpret the drama that unfolds before their eyes. Key scenes and clues are accompanied by images projected onto a screen as the puzzle gradually comes together. Conceived as a single unbroken sequence, Le Silence brings together themes dear to Antonioni: disappearance, how feelings fade, the instability of perception. The performers draw on inner monologues and fragments written by the playwright Guillaume Poix. By seeking what is expressed beyond language, Le Silence lays bare their thoughts and feelings with extraordinary force.

Over the past 10 years, Lorraine de Sagazan has established herself as one of our most inventive and prolific directors and visual artists. Co-created with Guillaume Poix, her works explore the interplay of reality and fiction, often shaped by personal testimonies she collects. Un sacre (2021), La Vie invisible (2022) and LÉVIATHAN (premiered at the Festival d’Avignon and presented at TNB Festival in 2024) have made a particularly strong impression. Le Silence is her first production for the Comédie-Française, restaged this season for TNB Festival.
