MAGUY MARIN
Maguy Marin is an artist whose work stands against inhumanity. In Y aller voir de plus près, two women and two men manipulate an array of costumes and objects in the shadow of suspended screens. Echoing themes of war, violence and authoritarianism, their choreography of conflict and escape is inspired by Thucydides’ ancient masterpiece The History of the Peloponnesian War. Everything that takes place on stage is no different from reality, with one exception. The stage cannot lie.
In 1981, Maguy Marin’s seminal performance May B upended what we think of as dance. Her new performance appears at Festival TNB in collaboration with Le Triangle.
