How do you establish power over a child? And what is it about our society that lets this happen? Marion Siéfert directs six performers in a show that combines text, dance, music and video games to explore onstage how digital technology is affecting our lives.
Mara (13 years old) is bored living on her small housing estate. She dreams of another life as she scrolls on her phone, imagining adventures for the avatar she’s created in an online roleplaying game. Then, Julien (27) appears on the digital scene. He leads the life Mara craves, and soon he’s taking an interest in her and offering to help her realise her dream: to become an actress. He draws her into a new game, ’Daddy’, revolutionary for allowing its players to use their real bodies. Sponsored by Julien, her ‘daddy’, Mara becomes a talent that anyone can invest in, and finds herself caught up in the infernal spiral of a world without limits.
