Conceived by Brussels-based artist and activist Anna Rispoli and Italian curator Martina Angelotti, this documentary performance reconstructs the artistic, militant, human and radical experiences of five European collectives to reflect on a continent discovering new forms of solidarity. During the creation process, Rispoli and Angelotti visited Brussels, Budapest, Marseille and Rennes, gathering material for a performance drawing on real life stories. They met women, men and children who were acting to change their daily life rather than submitting to it: women detainees in Rennes’ prison, families and minors seeking asylum in Marseille, arts professionals pooling their resources and needs, children organising themselves to fight against ecological disaster.
All initiatives that attest to the same truth: that it is through cooperation and sharing that we can change the world. These real experiences give life to a script which unfolds on stage as a participatory documentary and invites the audience to put themselves in the shoes of the protagonists. In this interactive exchange, Rispoli and Angelotti solicit the opinions of the audience, guiding them to interrogate the possibilities (and the limits) of the stories they recount.
