Inhabiting a sound world between the acoustic and the electronic, Icelandic composer and producer Valgeir Sigurðsson, British violinist Daniel Pioro and Berlin based viola da gamba player Liam Byrne come together for a set of music that draws inspiration from their shared love of textured, fractured sound, and the grey areas between noise and melody. The trio will intersperse new sounds with music from long ago, drawing particular inspiration from their most recent records, Dissonance (2017), Dust (2019) and Concrete (2019), respectively.
ABOUT
—
Born in 1971, Valgeir Sigurðsson is an Icelandic musician and composer. It is hardly surprising that Björk, also from Iceland, had him retained as engineer and programmer for the soundtrack of Dancer in the Dark, the cult film by Lars von Trier. In 1997 he founded Greenhouse Studios, which over the years has grown into the top recording facility in Iceland. His studio collaborators include, other than Björk, Camille, CocoRosie, Kronos Quartet and others. In 2005, he co-founded the record label Bedroom Community. It is under the auspices of his label, and at the invitation of Pierre-Alain Giraud, that Valgeir will perform at the TNB Festival.
