ACTING

FESTIVAL TNB 2021

Acting to bring an end to a dysfunctional world that holds people back and submits them to its law. We see it in the story of the woman whose talent, long ignored, is lifted up by the theatre (La Femme au marteau); in the European movement of people who became activists, who refused to submit, and who are honoured in performance (A Certain Value); or in a choreography that brings together African women as they free themselves from suffocating stereotypes (Carte noire nommée désir). Alone or together, these actions emancipate their performers – and the audience.
