The shockwave of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict strikes at the heart of a family in Berlin.
Wajdi Mouawad recounts a heartrending tale about the quest for identity. It’s the tale of an improbable encounter. Eitan, a young German scientist of Israeli origin, meets Wahida, an American PhD student with Arab roots. They fall in love, but their relationship incurs the wrath of Eitan’s father, David, the grandson of a Shoah survivor. Embarking on a quest to discover their roots, they travel from New York to Jerusalem from the 1960s to the present day.
Wajdi Mouawad, author, stage director and actor, is of Lebanese-Canadian (Quebec) origin, and director of the Théâtre National de la Colline in Paris.
