Belgian writer and slam poet Lisette Lombé takes us on a journey through poetic writing, collages and slams… A freewheeling, open-ended performance co-created with 12 amateurs.
Understanding slam as a way of writing one’s own freedom, Lisette Lombé shares her boundless creativity in this evening to discover poetry in its different forms. Alongside performing her own works, Lombé will be joined by amateur performers in a sort of verbal ping-pong, weaving a patchwork of texts that expresses the power of the collective.
The work of multifaceted, boundary-crossing artist Lisette Lombé is animated by her poetic, theatrical, visual, activist and educational practices. Her writing and her struggles are based on her own mixed experiences as a woman, mother and teacher. She brings together social and political fields to create, incite and invent self-determined narratives. In her work the future is suffused with history, unfolding into a ‘map for the world to come’ that each of us must walk and draw for ourselves. Lombé’s books include Brûler, brûler, brûler (2020) and Eunice (2023). Starting in January 2024, she will be Belgium’s national poet for two years.
