Is it possible to render historical, economic or social realities in the theater other than through fiction and the portrayal of characters caught in the throes of a crisis and its effects?
For Bruno Meyssat there is no doubt that it is as he cuts and shuffles material like in dreams. Borrowing from compelling documentary material collected during time spent in Fukushima, as well as from witness statements and readings of authors such as Günther Anders, who examines the growing obsolescence of the human condition brought about by technological advances, Meyssat creates a show that turns to the strength of our imagination, because nuclear power resists all attempts to render it visible or palpable. Thus, he and his six actors undertake to dig a deep theatrical furrow, which is anything but figurative, in an effort to create forms from events of historical significance.
