Flickering between apparition and emotion, this solo performance employs a subtle collage of archive sounds to bring actor and director Delphine Seyrig back to life.
Delphine Seyrig’s voice and presence fascinated the avant-garde filmmakers and directors of the 60s and 70s. 33 years after her death, she resonates all the more because she was one of the great voices of women’s emancipation. Raphaëlle Rousseau, a young performer who graduated with the tenth class of the TNB School, wanted so much to have known Seyrig that she turned her dream into a very real encounter. On stage, Rousseau is surrounded by portraits of her idol, chatting with her on the telephone through a mischievous montage of sound archives before finally inviting her on stage. In the silent spaces of this improbable conversation, a profound and moving reflection on the acting profession unfolds.
BIOGRAPHY | One of a new generation of artists to watch, Raphaëlle Rousseau, actor, artist and director, graduated from the TNB School in 2021. She has appeared in several shows created at TNB, most recently Le Malade imaginaire ou le silence de Molière by Arthur Nauzyciel (2022).
