A house in the woods, at the edge of the world. 4 brothers — Pascal, Adama, Frédéric and Arthur, the woodcutters— and one woman: Marie, the servant. The desires, the thoughts, the words of the brothers converge towards her as she yearns to be free from their oppression. Then, one day, a young man passes by… A dark fable, animist poem or ritual of revenge, Mes frères tells a story of emancipation, dismantling notions of masculinity and exposing men’s isolation, frustration and brutality when faced with nature and the manifold lives that constitute it. A raw confrontation — body to body, word against word.
Mes frères marks the first time Pascal Rambert has written for a director other than himself – Arthur Nauzyciel. It also draws on three of Rambert’s faithful performers, Marie Sophie Ferdane, Pascal Greggory and Frédéric Pierrot, joined by newcomer Adama Diop.
This biting piece that plunges us to the heart of ourselves and our future also reunites the artistic team from Jan Karski (Mon nom est une fiction), Splendid’s, and La Dame aux camélias – Riccardo Hernández, Xavier Jacquot, Damien Jalet, José Lévy, and Scott Zielinski.
