This show can be presented as a diptych with THE EMPIRE OF LIGHT

A great success when it premiered at Avignon Festival in 2011, Love’s End, written and directed by Pascal Rambert, has since travelled to stages around the world (including a visit to TNB in 2018).

Translated into a host of languages, it has also been brought to life by an infinite variety of actors following in the footsteps of original cast members Audrey Bonnet and Stanislas Nordey. This new production brings another change of perspective as Pascal Rambert, for the first time, confides his text to another director. Arthur Nauzyciel will now take a turn at choreographing this confrontation between a couple who settle their accounts in two implacable steps (the man speaks, and the woman answers).

Making the piece at the multidisciplinary creation centre Wooran Foundation in Seoul, Arthur Nauzyciel worked again with Ji Hyun-jun and Moon So-ri, close artistic collaborators and the lead actors in his piece The Empire of Light, created in 2016 at NTCK – National Theater Company of Korea. In this new version of Love’s End, he widens the focus, carrying the intimacy established by Pascal Rambert into the heart of a political context where two irreconcilable images of Korea face off against one another.

Ji Hyun-jun and Moon So-ri, renowned actors in their country, perform in both Love’s End and The Empire of Light, opening the possibility of presenting the two pieces as a double bill to bring out the resonances between them.
